Alexander McQueen. The fashion brand that ignited my love for fashion design and appreciation for art found in fashion. It was such a somber day when the press announced that he had passed. I remember finding out through numerous postings on Facebook and Twitter.

I was on a shuttle bus on my way to my next class near the Wharf. My heart stopped for a brief moment and the mechanics of my mind malfunctioned and froze. I'm not the one to cry over the death of a celebrity, but my emotions latched on to my vulnerable side and unhooked the gate that held the wells to my tears. After the first drop, I regrouped myself and quickly reached into my Bottega Veneta messenger to grab my Ray-Bans.

Class that day was not the same.

I was not the only one that was affected. My creativity was stunted and I left feeling unproductive and uninspired.

He will always be known to me as the true Alexander the Great.

Anyways. I found these gems through my journey of picking out outfits for a client. True, they are beautiful, but unfortunately not the McQueen that i grew up and admired. Sarah Burton is a great woman, but I feel like the corporation side of the business got the best of her. The clothes produced on the retail end are beautiful and immaculate, but the fantasy is diminishing.

Is fashion really an art anymore?
Or is it mediated by the financial growth of the company?
Can this be mass produced to appeal to the full-ranged public?

I don't think art should appeal to the entire public. Not everyone should own the same piece of art because that would otherwise make it common, ordinary, irrelevant.

Not the way you thought this blog post would go, right?

Bringing Back Luxury to Resort

Detailing on a Alexander McQueen Jacket
Holographic sequins on Gucci tank dress

Luxurious Brocade of a Dolce & Gabbana Jacket

Shoulder Yoke detailing of a Stella McCartney Dress

Mesmerizing texture of Gucci Jacket

This season's resort collections really emphasized on the things that we want and impelled to have.

Gucci's Frida Giannini took us on a well-overdue rendezvous to Rio de Janeiro, where not only iridescence of the skin is considered in, but also the clothes.

Dolce & Gabbana showed glamorous woven brocades paired back to subtle menswear.

Talk about a Dandy in disguise.

I feel a storm of glamour coming and everyone should brace themselves with a Swarovski encrusted trench coat and a pair of Valentino Rockstud sandals.

Textiles played a large part in the illusion of grandeur. Fabrics were intertwined with radiant strands of gold and silver and knitwear were embellished with stones and sequins in sunset tones.

Next time you go shopping, I highly recommend stopping by Zara and trying on this white sequins number or splurging a bit and investing in this knock out of a vest by 3.1 Phillip Lim.

At the core of my wardrobing philosophy resides one word; simplicity. It is not what you pile on that makes an outfit fantastic, it is what you pair that special item with and how you carry the clothing through your persona and confidence that makes it worthwhile.

You can wear the most expensive, luxurious brands and call it fashion, but if you cannot live up to the grandeur of the brand's ideology, then you cannot call it style.

One of my core pieces for this summer are these tapered trousers by Joíe. They are my "I need to get dressed for work but am too lazy to actually form an outfit" pants. My go-to's on Monday mornings are these pants paired with a silk blouse that I haphazardly tuck to perceive the idea that i'm pulled together.

There is - Simplicity.

Favorite Spring Pieces

Blazer: Rag & Bone; T-shirt: Zara; Leather Leggings: Helmut Lang; Bag: PS1 Proenza Schouler; Watch: Michael Kors

Spring is slowly departing and emerging from it's floral delights is it's sassy, sweaty cousin, Summer.

I can't wait to toss on my summer festival wear and hit the city decked out in cut-out tees, linen blazers, and SHORTS. San Francisco weather only allows you to realistically wear shorts in certain months (even though you see them year round).

but, before we hand up the Spring season, I wanted to review my Spring favorites!

First is my handy-dandy Rag and Bone blazer. This blazer has taken me through so many difficult fashion decisions and will continue to until the end of it's day. The canary yellow coloring of this blazer is so special in that it adapts well to every skin tone. This multi-faceted blazer has been my go to from formal to casual. And have you ever put on a R&B blazer? They fit like a glove. Never have I owned a blazer that has made me feel so sassy.

Don't ever leave me Rag & Bone.

Next are my Helmut Lang lamb skin leggings. These are the epitome of "warm-weather leather" I originally had buyer's remorse when i bought them home because of the whole enigma of leather sticking to your skin in the summer time but these are so light and durable that i literally toss them on with anything.

TIP: make sure your top covers below your crotch. We don't want no camel toe, do we now? Lindsay Lo. would say differently, but look where she is now...no look lower...lower... THERE SHE IS! Rock Bottom. Hmmm, that would be a fabulous drag name.

Wrapping it up is my PS1 bag by Proenza Schouler. It's a PS1 bag. Is there any question to why it is amazing? The contrast neon red/ pink stitching sets it apart from all the other bags on the market and the structure of the bag makes it versatile for any season. My next bag will definitely be in the same family.

Leather on Silk

Top: Allsaints; Leather Jacket: Allsaints; Sunglasses: Alexander McQueen; Hat: Obey

My two favorite fabric medias together: Silk and Leather

The juxiposition of hard vs. soft gives any outfit the depth it deserves to be a great outfit. Can't decide if you want to be a pretty princess or a rocker chick? Be both!

Didn't you know that bipolor is totally in this year?

Cancel the Noise

Leather pants: BCBG Max Azria; Top (under): Zara; Sweater: vintage

Cancel the noise with music. Ever had a horrendous day and all you want to do is drown your every thought with music? Today was one of those days

DROWN IT OUT. DOUSE IT. DRENCH IT. ESCAPE FOR ONE MINUTE.

Krewalla has been doing that for me lately. Roll down the windows of my Mini and blast a little ( A LOT OF )

house-dub and toss my head back and forth.

Cancel the noise to make room for more.

A Slight of Hand...or Leg...or Bosom.

In recognition of the Costume Institute's latest exhibition, Punk: Chaos to Couture, the MET gala this year was appropriately themed after the 1980s punk genre; with a extravagant twist of course. The biggest trend exemplified at the gala was what wasn't there. Sheer paneling, lace overlays and devious cut-outs were the standout stars at this event.

There has never been an event focused so much on perfected elegance, only to be balanced out with heedless abandon. I question the amount of taste some of the stylists put on their stars (Miley Cyrus)

Why would you spend so much time researching the perfect dress to have it ruined by such an implied cliche in terms of styling? That, my friends, is a classic example of stylist's dementia. Noun: a disorder of over-creative diarrhea.

Hope is not lost.

Below were excellent examples of stars revealing the unrevealed. Less is more is the key mantra that keeps this trend so sophisticated. A little slit here and a little slash there goes a long way. Take a chance with this risque trend and show the world a little confidence. A side cut-out is a sign of confidence and empowerment in who you think you are.

Just don't go crazy. Don't be pullin' a Pussycat Doll; We want confidence, not street walker. :]

But most importantly, have fun with it. Pair that back cut-out Parker dress with a cream Helmut Lang lace tank underneath to give it more texture if you feel like its too much skin. Make it your own design rather than sticking to the mold.

Share with me your experiences with sheer or cut-out garments and how you pair them together!

Shedding New feathers

Top: Miss Wu (nordstrom.com); Jogger Pants: Zara; Shoes: Zara; Bag: Proenza Schouler

With the change of seasons comes a change of lifestyle.

Well at least that's the general trend thats been constant within the last 3 years of my life. HELLO! WELCOME BACK! GUTEN TAG! Yes, indeed it has been three years. Between that time, i moved from lonely OC to fabulous SF. I met someone more invested in fashion than I am and i'm living with him in the smallest, most adorable apartment a gay boy could ask for. But in all seriousness, I am back with a handful of surprises and a bucket of ideas. Let's get started shall we? The next few months will be dedicated to growing my blog and transforming it into a projected psyche for my fashion infested thoughts.

Anyways on to the important stuff, right?

Today's OOTD consists of two of my favorite things: printed tops and pants scrunched into shorts.

Everyone loves a good fitted sleeveless silk top. If your arms don't vibrate like tiny waves crashing onto the coast, you should show off those fabulous limbs of yours! I'm on the hunt for a summer wardrobe filled with sleeveless tops that i can dress up with a blazer for work or dress down with denim shorts for those hot summer days in Dolores Park. The top i'm wearing is from Miss Wu. It came in two different prints but i decided for the cascading feathers because the other one reminded me too much of Charlie Brown(available at nordstrom.com). BTW if you haven't checked out the Jason Wu's contemporary line, Miss Wu, then you're missing out. Every piece feels as good as they fit and accommodates anyone from size 00 to 14. Anything with Jason Wu's name attached to it, i must have.
If you haven't noticed over the past few years, i'm kind of obsessed with American Asian designers. Wu, Wang, Lim...got to have them all. Irony though because it sure doesn't reflect my taste in men. Perhaps my fashion personality is really a rice queen. hmmmm.

Anyways, can't wait to pair this top with a pair of cropped, sheer trousers!!! (VINCE SHEER TROUSERS?!) I'll let you know how that works out.

For the people reading this, I'm glad to have you aboard and hope this post inspires you to post your own OOTD and to take a few minutes out of your busy days to appreciate the important things in life. Like clothes.

Leave a comment so i can find my other fashion hungry bloggers out there!
